Along with reliable sources such as the IAEA and WNN updates, there is an incredible amount of misinformation and hyperbole flying around the internet and media right now about the Fukushima nuclear reactor situation. In the BNC post Discussion Thread – Japanese nuclear reactors and the 11 March 2011 earthquake (and in the many comments that attend the top post), a lot of technical detail is provided, as well as regular updates. But what about a layman’s summary? How do most people get a grasp on what is happening, why, and what the consequences will be?

How big is the BP Spill in the Gulf of Mexico? Until now, the worst oil spill in history was the Exxon Valdez disaster in Alaska that spilled at least 10.8 Million gallons of crude oil on March 24, 1989. In comparison, the BP Deepwater Horizon blowout is spewing 1.5-2.5 million gallons per DAY! That is the equivalent of one Exxon Valdez spill EVERY WEEK!.
Basketball is my favorite sport. I serve as the Basketball Commissioner for our local recreation league, and coach at both rec and CYO levels. I also serve as Vice President of Marketing for LMYA Sports. Depending on the season, you can find me coaching soccer, baseball, basketball, softball, or volleyball.
